Short biography
Martin Antony Walker, BSc, DIC, PhD, provides independent studies, analyses, and advice in high-performance and distributed computing, and related areas.
From 1984 until his retirement in 2008, Martin was employed in the high-performance computing industry. He is recognized for achievements in R&D program management, new-product development and market introduction, and marketing and business development at Hewlett Packard, Compaq Computer, Digital Equipment, Cray Research, and Myrias Research. He has been active in the distributed computing community since 2002.
Dr. Walker received a DIC and PhD in mathematics and physics from Imperial College, London, in 1970, and has lectured and published widely in the scientific literature on black holes, gravitational radiation, and related topics. He was a member of scientific staff at the Max Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics, Munich, Germany, from 1971 to 1984. During his research career, Dr. Walker held visiting positions at leading universities and research institutions around the world.
